Wolfsbane Lineage Part 2: The Bloodline

A loud snap sounded from behind Wil and he whipped around fast to meet a dart that lodged its way into his right rib cage. He growled intensely and fast as lightning Wil charged the darkness from which the dart had come. Fading into the black Wil disappeared. Several loud cries of agony echoed from the darkness followed by a short silence. Out from the darkness flew a dead dark elf body that collapsed onto the cold floor limp and lifeless. The dark elf’s mouth was agape with terror and its eyes were rolled in the back of its skull. Closer examination could reveal that a large hole, where the elf’s heart used to be, was torn out clean. Almost little to any blood flowed out from its body.

Wil slowly appeared out from the darkened hallway and began to come into plain view. He was no longer a in his lycan form. His ash-black hair was unkempt and he wore blood all over his face and body as if he jumped into a blood bath. His heartbeat had slowed down to a normal pace finally. He walked up to the last victim he had flung before changing back to himself. Gazing at the dark elf Wil shook his head in disbelief. None of this made any sense. Normally a lycan cannot change unless in the presence of moonlight. Even a fully risen lycan had trouble willingly changing without direct contact with the moon goddess Luna. Then again he didn’t change willingly.

Wil stood for a while trying to figure out what had happened. Then he remembered something that his elvish pact leader, Lucan Swiftclaw, had told him. A long time ago there was a bloodline of lycans that could master their inner beast. The chief lycan among them was Keyleth Bloodmoon, who later ascended to godhood as the nemesis of Luna the Moon Goddess. She was later known as Lux the Blood Bearer during her godhood. Unlike Luna, whose lycan-bearers drew their power from the moon itself, Lux’s lycan-bearers drew their power from primal instinct and blood lust. It was said that Lux gave this power to an ancient elven family before she was banished to death during the War of the Bloodmoon, and it was in that family’s bloodline that Lux’s lycan-bearers would live on.

It was impossible that Wil could have the Bloodmoon bloodline though! That family was later extinguished from existence several years after the Second War of the Bloodmoon, when Lux’s lycan-bearers fought again Luna and nearly destroyed her. Yet he had felt the rage within him unleash and a thirst for blood arose in the middle of his changing. He never realized this when he was changing though because of the pain of transforming. Wil shook his head in disbelief. He had to seek answers, but before he could do that he had to escape this dark elf prison. He still didn’t even know what these dark brethren elves wanted from him either. Or how he arrived at this weird location. So many questions stormed upon Wil’s brain. He demanded answers no matter what the cost of obtaining them.
