Wolfsbane Lineage Part 1: The Transformation

Wil Wolfsbane wandered the darkened corridors of a place he had never seen before. Where was he? He kept asking himself that question with every turn he made. His heartbeat thumping faster and faster with every step he took. He propped himself against the nearest wall and peered around the corner with a piece of shattered mirror that he had found earlier. There didn’t appear to be anything down the next turn, but Wil had a gut feeling there was more to this darkened hallway. No matter where he turned their was darkness surrounding him, and there wasn’t any sign that there was an end to this unknown labyrinth he had been placed into.

Just a couple days ago he was frolicking with his pet wolf, Ylva, in the golden meadows of his homeland in Fallcrest. What he would do to find his partner in life. Surely she would be able to lead him the right direction, and finally find a way out of this infernal maze. A couple corners before this one Will noticed a similarity that he swore he had seen just a few minutes before: a sliver of violet light. Then it dawned on Wil that he was missing something. Something that he should have noticed hours ago but couldn’t. It is something in the air of this place. The darkness seemed to drain the energy from you and be replaced with an unstoppable confusion. Any longer and Wil’s force of will would be shattered and he surely would be lost.

With that single though Will got a surge of wild fervor within his body. He felt warmness cover his entire body like sitting next to a hearth. It was an odd feeling because just seconds before this sudden fever he was colder than a yeti’s breath. Then he got this sudden tremor of cramps lock up his muscles and he couldn’t move any longer. Was it this darkness trying to swallow him? Was his will finally broken?

No it couldn’t be! There wasn’t any moonlight within sight! How could he be changing? Wil fell to the cold cobblestone floor and curled up in a tight ball. The agonizing pain of changing was unbearable. Wil let out a loud scream that slowly became a howl. Sweat and perspiration covered his pale skin as his limbs slowly contorted into a different shape. His bones cracked and shattered. The noise of which sent shivers up and down his fusing spine. When the change was complete Wil no longer looked like the half-elf that he once was. Instead he was covered in pitch black fur from head to toe, and his face was contorted into a snout  that most likely resembled that of a panther and a wild dog. His teeth grew into large canines that were sharp enough to tear through flesh. The iris of Wil’s eyes were a beastly yellow-green that shone brightly like a wolf’s eyes. He now bore abnormally longer arms that went down to his knees, and claws that were sharp as the finest blade. His legs were contorted and semi-bent back in the shape of a dog’s hind legs.
Wil’s muscled chest heaved as he let out a fog of breath. His heart was rapidly beating faster than any normal man’s, but then again he was no longer the same Wil Wolfsbane any longer. He was a lycan.
